[SOLVED] Le question

Gotta say I'm LOVING this new update and the way things are looking. Fringe has got a much better vibe and it's definitely more appealing to the eye now, which I'm sure will attract new members soon. Well done everybody. I've gotta ask though, what happened to the award mod? It go bye bye?

Awards are given using the trophy system now. It's still in the works and will be available soon. I might even go the extra mile and look-up the already given ones and convert them into trophies

Will they still be little images?

I was wondering the same. Because it was kind of cool having little award images below your avatar when you'd post. Not sure if you have the same type of ability on XenForo.

It won't show images below the avatar, as that would cause additional queries, which doesn't make much sense just to see images. However, I might add award images next to the trophies in the trophy overview and at the popup that shows up if you click a user's Trophy Points link below the avatar.

Having too many queries because of small things like that adds up quickly. Imagine a topic with 20 posts and 10 users browsing such a topic. This would cause 20 times 10 additional queries, meaning 200 queries more than without the images. Things like that are the main reason why some sites and forums often show errors like "mysql error - too many connections".

Oh, that's fine. I was just using it as an example since that's what we're used to. But your idea works perfectly fine.

lol yeah if it's gonna bring problems like mentioned, I wouldn't bother with them under the avatars either. The award images in the trophy overview and notification pop would do just fine imo!
